Opening Prayer- Jeff Johnson

Guest- 77th District State Representative George Brown- Amendment 2- will change the state constitution and will take money from public education for charter and private schools which do not have to take all children but will keep the money. 3.5 million is budgeted for Citation Blvd. to go all the way to Russell Cave. The Governor Signed an Executive Order for June 19th (Juneteenth) as a Holiday. Executive Branch of the Governor’s Office only will get this day off, others will have to use Holiday time.

Amber Deitz- Citizens Advocate- helps Lexington citizens file complaints against the city. Makes policy recommendations to councilmembers, and answers calls for basic information.

Report from 1st District Councilmember- Tayna Fogle/ Kristin Pack- Admin Assistant to Councilmen Fogle.

Report from 2nd District Councilmembers- Shayla Lynch – June 26th Masterson Station Dog Park. The Bluegrass Fair is going on now June 6-16th at Masterson Station Park. Business Collective is July 13th. The city has almost passed the Budget and tomorrow is the last day.

Capital Funds are available until Dec. 31st but must be in by Sept. 2024.

Neighborhood Development Funds should be processed soon it is on the second reading, usually takes about 4 weeks, and should be done by June 30th.

CJ Back to School Event update

Bathroom updates- Design & Cost estimate will be completed by July 2024.

Stephanie Thomas motioned and seconded by Mrs. Green. Motion carried to budget $3500 for St. Martin Village Day.

Guest: Amanda Watts-Miller Website Developer – showed off new website to the neighborhood members in attendance. Reforesting the Bluessgrass- Heather Watson, and Director of Environmental Service LF Business City of Lexington- Jennifer Carey – Discussing and giving details to Lex Grow Trees.

Report from 1st District Councilmember- Tayna Fogle- House Bille 5 – making houselessness illegal goes into effect July 1 with a 3 strikes and your out rule. 6th & Pemberton St. new housing. The Way Point Center opening soon on 400 E. Fidth St. on May 13th.

Report from 2nd District Councilmember- Shayla Lynch- play ground equipment will be here May 30th.

Opening Prayer- Rev. Doyle Warren

Guest Randy Brown G3 Solar, Letter from CIL community partner.

Report from 1st District Councilmember- Tayna Fogle. Her report included information on a few meetings she attended. She discussed the Palmer building opening, Boxing center, stop sign placement, and rezoning of a liquor store that is across the street from the new youth center. Hunger Doesn’t Take a Break was successful. Working on obtaining funding for park Directors for the summer.

Report from 2nd District Councilmember- Shayla Lynch. She gave the date for the next District Meeting which is April 23, 2024. Money is available that she must approve before June 30, 2024. Gyanism at Black & Williams should be done by Oct. 2024. Parking, Division, and Inclusion Office started working on that to be funded. Community Paramedicine- minutes accepted as read.

Report from Vice President- Tina Warren’s report address the need to update the By-Laws, address the need to have memberships and dues, discussed the non-profit partners and the video from Rebecca Webb regarding being a improvished neighborhood.

Community Garden Cleaning Beds (Trevor Clayborne non-profit) Saturday, April 13th Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am.

Website Developer Amanda Watts-Miller of WM Virtual Innovations 30+ years of experience. Contract pending for 1 year. Website will be built for $500- $1000 with $50 monthly maintenance. $101.80 for bonding the treasurer.

Business manager position- those interested will shadown the current Business Manager- Jeff Johnson.

Non-profit donations: $500 (application and letter to the board)

Sholarship Applications: $500

Hospitality Funds: Address the need for a hospitality committee- funds to be determined.

Greetings by Michelle Davis to the association.

Guest: Rebecca Webb, Renita Gordon, Tyler Morton and Jacques Wigginton

Rebecca Webb gave an update that a freezer was donated by a bank for the food pantry.

Hunger Doesn’t Take A Spring Break- hosted by St. Martin’s Village- kids come and take home food during spring break.

CIL- Summer Camp last two weeks in June 2024. April 27- Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at the Bell House 5:30 pm and tickets are $70.

Tyler Morton- Easter Extravaganza- accessible leadership.

$30,000 t-ball from office.

Partner with Georgetown neighborhood association to put a meril to prevent spray paint on the overpass. Arrests were made but they aren’t now.

Whitney Young Park playground TBD

Restroom accessibility completion is TBD. The American Disability Act (ADA) assessment from the architect is expected in April.

Spring Break Fun Day Sponsor by Helen Dilworth Foundation Saturday, April 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Every Saturday Kroger’s Mobile Food Market Location: Bluegrass United Church of Christ, Time: noon – 1:30 pm.

Bingo Wednesday, April 3rd 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Sponsored by Triple Crown Management.

Free pool passes will be provided at the meeting on Thursday, May 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Curtis Mitchell.

New Business

Website- presentation view -1 not seeing the presentation.

Motion made by Eld. Warren to work with Daniel Whitley (pro bono) to assist us with the pavilion. Shayla says the government does not want to take over the building.

Vote to retain Daniel Whitley as the attorney to the contract between the Neighborhood Association and Parks and Recreation pro bono.

Budget- Christmas/party & autumn mixer approved- for specifics on the budget please contact the treasurer or president.

Question/Comment/Concerns

Change the checks to go to the neighborhood mailbox instead of Michelle Davis’ house.

Treasurer needs to be bonded.

When walking your dog please clean up any dog poop out of your neighbors yards.

Walking Trail & New Play Ground

The walking trail is finished. The ribbon cutting ceremony will happen this spring 2024.

Every 1st Saturday of each month Lima Drive Seventh-Day Adventist Church Food Bank from 3 pm – 5 pm.

Every 3rd Tuesday of each month Food Pantry at the Village Shelter from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.

Starting February 1, 2024- Free Tax Preparation at Black and Williams Center- Call 211 to make an appointment.

Wednesday, February 22, 2024- Planting Seeds at the Village Shelter from 4:30 – 6:00 pm Volunteers needed!

Saturday March 18, 2024- Planting Day Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Rain Date: Saturday March 25, 2024- Planting Day Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

RENTAL NOTE: If you are interested in renting the Charles Quillings Center (Village Shelter) the number is (559) 327-3805. We are currently taking reservations for the 2024 year. Call and leave your name, number, and the date you would like to reserve. We will return your call within a 24-hour period. The deposit is $125.00 to reserve that date and $150.00 for rental. Your deposit is refundable after you clean the building and are inspected by our custodian. Please call the office to request your refund!
